Below you will find answers to some frequently asked questions about Eduverse.
What is Eduverse?
Eduverse is a safe and secure immersive online learning space where students and teachers can collaborate and learn together virtually as ‘avatars’. Think of Eduverse as the ‘next generation’ of online video conferencing, where not only can you talk to one another, you can interact together and explore engaging educational curriculum content. Eduverse also provides teacher and classroom tools, to help manage your students and the content they explore.
Is Eduverse free to use?
YES! Eduverse is free to registered teachers. Just sign-up here.
How many students can I have in Eduverse?
Up to 32 students can access a teacher-initiated Eduverse session concurrently.
What devices can I use to access Eduverse?
Eduverse can be accessed from any web-enabled device. You can use a desktop or laptop computer, Chromebook, Mac, classroom interactive whiteboard, mobile phone, tablet and VR headsets, like Google Expedition kits, ClassVR headsets and any other WebVR device!
How do I invite students into my Eduverse session?
As a teacher, you can start an Eduverse session and use the ‘Invite’ button in the menu to either share a URL link directly with them, or display a QRcode for them to scan using their device (phone, tablet, VR device etc). They will then be ‘transported’ into your Eduverse session and will appear in your room, ready to learn!
How long does an Eduverse session last?
An Eduverse room will remain ‘open’ as long as the teacher keeps the page open in their web browser. Once the teacher closes the browser, the room will close shortly after and will no longer be accessible. Starting a new session from the teacher’s browser will open a new room, and a new link will be available for teachers to share with their students.
How do I change names and my Avatar?
When you are in an Eduverse session, you will see a small icon in the top right hand corner of the screen. Click on this icon, then click on the ‘pencil’ icon next to your default name. Here you can type in a new name that will be shown above your Avatar (which we call VRroomies!). You can also click on your current VRroomie and browse and select a new VRoomie!
Do I need a fast internet connection to use Eduverse?
As with any online activity, a stable and swift internet connection will always give you the best possible experience, especially when connecting with other students and teachers from different locations.
